"I started Pilates 17 years ago, shortly after my first child was born. On my first lesson I was attached to straps hanging off the Cadillac and expected to pull my body weight up and down, it was uncomfortable scary and expensive. I lasted only a few weeks. I started again 3 years ago with a Stott Pilates instructor, Channy Oddy, the exercises were modified to my ability allowing me to grow in strength week by week. The workout were challanging and the props kept it fresh and interesting. I love Pilates in Port Elizabeth, because Channy knows how far to push me so I feel like I have had a great workout but not so far that I feel despondent and want to give up, her studio is happy and professional, and her rates very reasonable. - Chantal

Having danced since the age of 4 (ballet, modern, contemporary and acrobatics) I thought I knew it all......I have never been so in touch with my body and its ability to perform correctly since I started Pilates with Channy and I feel like a teenager again......some say I look like one again! no more backache and the techniques I have learnt from Channy (breathing, correct body positioning and placement) have benefited me tremendously in all the other exercise routines I do, especially the ballet....feeling so strong again-I AM TRULY ADDICTED and will do Pilates till I am 90! Channy is professional and passionate about her pilates classes. Since starting pilates 3 years ago, my posture has improved, my core strength has grown and I have not had to visit the chiropractor once for backache. Channy takes a personal interest in all the girls in her classes, and knows each persons weaknesses and strengths. After starting pilates two ago with Channy , I felt the benefits almost immediately.

When I am in the class I am totally focused on the muscles I need to engage and on using my breath to get the most from each exercise.

This has given me a greater consciousness of the muscles of my body and how to use them effectively.
